Title: Towards the measurement of the residual strong interaction among all hadron pairs and triplets

Speaker: Professor Laura Fabbietti (TUM)

Abstract:

The residual strong interaction among hadrons remains undiscovered for most hadron species, especially when heavy quarks are involved. For two-body interactions involving nucleons and pion scattering experiments have been successfully carried out in the past and the strong interaction could be studied, but such experiments are either difficult or impossible for other hadron species.

In this talk we will discuss how the measurement of correlations in momentum space using the ALICE detector at the LHC allowed us to study the strong interaction among hadron-hadron pairs including all combinations of  u,d,s quarks and how future measurements will shed light also on the interaction involving charm quarks. The obtained experimental data have been used to test lattice calculations and effective field theory calculations and the obtained precision is unprecedented.

Beyond the two-body forces, an extension of the two particle correlations to three particles exploiting the cumulant methods normally used in flow observables was carried out and it will be discussed. The case in points so far analysed restrict to ppp and ppLambda triplets at the moment. The upcoming Run 3 perspective will be addressed.
