General
This PhD school will introduce students to forefront research in gravitational physics, with an emphasis on foundational and theoretical aspects. There will be three series of lectures, on the subjects:
Series A: Aspects of low-dimensional quantum gravity
Series B:ย Non-relativistic gravity and the post-Newtonian expansion
Series C: Dynamics of black holes
These three topics have all received exciting recent developments. The students will get a state-of-the-art introduction, enabling them to follow and contribute to the subjects.
All local students will be accepted (no motivational letter needed, but they should both sign up in PhD Frontplanner and on this indico website). Non-local students can apply for participation, with a brief motivational statement including home institution and name of supervisor. We will admit students on a running basis and inform the student as soon as possible after the application is submitted. The deadline for the latest possible application is August 19.ย Accepted external students are not charged a registration fee, but are themselves responsible for travel and accomodation. We recommend to reserve this in due time, since it is end of high season in Copenhagen.ย

Format
The course will start Monday morning and end Friday at lunch time.ย
There will be lectures in the morning and afternoon lecture. There will also be exercises sessions.ย
Guided tour of the NBI
We will organize a guided tour of the Niels Bohr Institute during which you will hear about the works and life of Niels Bohr and his contemporaries. ย The tour starts at the reception and will be given by a historian from the Niels Bohr Archive.
