On August 24 and 25, 2026, the Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA) will host a workshop focused on the nature and interpretation of Little Red Dots.
We plan to bring together researchers working on both observations of and theoretical models for LRDs, with the aim of clarifying the origin and defining characteristics of these exciting objects. Our goal is to make sense of the many astrophysical processes and scales that must be linked---spanning accretion dynamics and radiative transfer, to system lifetimes, abundances, and galactic host properties, to their redshift distribution and evolution---in order to build a self-consistent picture of LRDs.
Registration for the event is open, but speakers are by invitation only. The deadline for registration is May 15, 2026, and the list of participants will be available online on June 1st.
In the three days immediately following the workshop, the NBIA will also host its annual meeting on Current Themes in Theoretical Physics, with this year's theme on astrophysics and cosmology. While Current Themes speakers are by invitation only, all workshop attendees are welcome to additionally register for and attend the Current Themes. Registration will open soon at the Current Themes 2026 website:

The workshop will take place in the historic Auditorium A at the Niels Bohr Institute on Blegdamsvej 17. The NBIA will also provide rooms and spaces to facilitate impromptu discussions and collaborations in smaller groups. There will be a workshop dinner for all participants.
