Program Aims and Format

The Simons Program for the fall of 2018 is centered around the scientific interests of Simons Visiting Professor Alexander Schekochihin (Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics, Oxford). Subjects of interest in this Simons Program on Plasma Physics and Astrophysics range from fundamental processes in plasmas to astrophysical implications to experimental applications.

The aim of this program is to bring together experts in several areas of plasma physics and astrophysics to discuss in a relaxed atmosphere some of the important problems and challenges in these fields. Invited speakers will have the opportunity to present their own views to initiate discussions and stimulate interactions among participants.

Invited speakers in this program include

  • Benjamin Chandran (New Hampshire)
  • Eugene Churazov (Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics)
  • William Dorland (Maryland)
  • Nuno Loureiro (MIT)
  • François Rincon (University of Toulouse)
  • Alexander Schekochihin (Oxford)
  • Anatoly Spitkovsky (Princeton)

Participation is subject to invitation from the organizers. If you wish to participate, please send a mail to Anette Luff Studsgård <studsgaard@nbi.dk>
