Update: The Summer School is postponed until 2021 due to travel restrictions.  More information will be available in early 2021.

The 2020 NBI Summer School on Machine Learning in Physics is designed to encourage closer connections between researchers whose work is producing increasingly large and complex datasets and researchers designing techniques for analyzing those large datasets. It is focused mainly on the design and application of Machine Learning and "Big Data" techniques to problems in computational and experimental (or observational) Physics, tackling complex computational problems, challenges with discovery in large datasets, and robust inference in noisy regimes. Spin-off applications (e.g. city and resource planning), as well as research in biophysics, will also be covered.  There will also be lectures by researchers actively using similar techniques to solve problems in industry.

The meeting will take place at the Niels Bohr Institute (Blegdamsvej 17, Copenhagen Ø 2100, Denmark) and several nearby locations, with the support of the Niels Bohr Institute and additional centers funded by the Danish National Research Foundation (Danmarks Grundforskningsfond). Detailed information on recommended accommodation, transportation and other relevant matters will be available closer to the summer school.  However, students will be responsible for making their own travel and housing arrangements, and should feel free to book them once they have been accepted into the school.

Students who require a visa to enter Denmark should submit the necessary application to the nearest diplomatic or consular representative of Denmark as soon as possible after acceptance. A letter of invitation, if required, can be requested by email.
