The workshop has been cancelled.
The first presentation on Monday morning, and the coaching sessions, will be implemented through video conferencing.
The three-day workshop is the 10th and last workshop of the OMT workshop series. It will take the members of the OMT ETN to Munich, where we will meet on the premises of the Baravian Academy of Sciences in the former Munich royal residence - in the heart of the city. As we are approaching the end of OMT, the workshop addresses career perspectives for physics PhDs in academia and industry, and also illuminates the related aspect of entrepreneurship.
More specifically, we will be exposed to several career paths spanning a broad variety: From technology-related careers in OMT-related large-scale industrial enterprises and startups, over perspectives in patent law firms, management consulting, to the onward path in academia and even to insights for founding your own company. We will listen to how other physics PhD built their careers in these fields, and get first-hand insights during multiple site-visits in the greater Munich area. In addition, we will learn how implicit biases affect our thinking and how to unleash the potential of diversity.
Finally, we will be introduced to how to best apply for a job outside of academia, and every participant of the workshop will have a 1:1 session with a career coach to work on their curriculum vitae. See "Coaching" for further details on the 1:1 coaching sessions.
