We recommend to travel to FRA, which is the largest airport in Germany, and from there you can take a DB (Deutsche Bahn) train directly to Heidelberg (https://int.bahn.de/en). There are many daily train connections, usually via Mannheim, and the journey usually only takes 60 minutes.

Alternatively, there are bus shuttles between Frankfurt Airport and Heidelberg:

From the main train station in Heidelberg, you can either take a taxi or use local public transport to your hotel:

To get to MPIA by public transport, please follow this link
https://www.mpia.de/en/services/contact-and-directions/by-public-transport

Please be careful if you are interested to bike up the hill to MPIA. This is possible, but the road from Heidelberg is a serpantine and the elevation is about 450 m. We strongly recommend to get an e-bike.
