Arrival Information

Getting from the airport to the Institute and the conference hotels

An easy way to reach NBI from the airport is to take the train to Østerport station. From there it is a short walk to the institute. This option is also very convenient for those staying at hotel Ni Små Hjem. You will need a 3-zone ticket, which currently costs 36 Danish Kroner.

To get from the airport to the city centre one can also use the metro. The metro station at the airport is located in terminal 3, up the stairs after the train ticket office. You can buy a ticket on the ground floor level at the vending machines or at the desk. There is also a vending machine upstairs just outside the metro platform.

The institute is about 20 minutes' walk from Nørreport station, a central transport hub. Walking directions can be found here. You could also take a bus  (150S, 6A,184 or 185) from Nørreport to the stop Bledgamsvej/Tagensvej, from where it is a 5-minute walk to the institute. From Kongens Nytorv you can take bus 1A or 15 to Trianglen, from where it is a 2-minute walk to the institute.

For those staying at Hotel Christian IV, it is most convenient to take the metro to Kongens Nytorv and walk from there (it takes less than 10 minutes). Click here for directions. To go from the hotel to the institute, you can take a shortcut through the King's Garden. Click here for a suggested route.

For those staying at hotel Løven, it is most convenient to take the train to the main station, Hovedbanegården. Directions from there to the hotel are given here. Breakfast will be provided at Cafe Obelix on Vesterbros Torv (marked as "C" on the map).

If you plan to use public transport a lot while in Copenhagen it might be better value to buy a 2-zone 10-trip "klippekort" which you have to punch twice in the yellow machines (located on the metro/train platforms) to travel from the airport to the city centre. Within the bounds of the city centre, this can then be used by punching once. Several people travelling together can share the same klippekort (by punching the required number of zones times the number of people). The klippekort currently costs 140 Danish Kroner.

The Institute

The Niels Bohr Institute, Bledgamsvej section, can be found on this map. The meeting will be held in historical Auditorium A, located in the main building (which is marked "Niels Bohr Institutet"). In case the main door is locked, you can enter through the door marked "Reception" in the building to the right, and follow the signs to the auditorium.

Further information on the institute and the surrounding area (including nearby restaurants) can be found here.

Internet Access

There is wireless internet coverage throughout the institute. We will provide instructions on how to connect on arrival.

Weather

As you might expect, the weather in Copenhagen can be a bit cold at this time of the year. Take a look at this link for a forecast and at the DMI radar for the current situation.
