Getting from the airport to the city centre

The easiest way to get from the airport to the city centre is to use the Metro, located in terminal 3, past the entrance to the trains. You can buy a ticket on the ground floor level at the vending machines or at the desk. You will need a 3-zone ticket, which costs 31,50 DKK.

For better value (and to avoid fumbling around with money all the time) you can buy a 2-zone 10-trip "klippekort" (for 130 DKK) which you have to punch TWICE in the yellow machines (located near the metro itself) to travel from the airport to the city centre. Within the bounds of the city centre, this can then be used by punching once. This option might be more efficient for those who plan to use the bus daily while in Copenhagen, e.g. those staying at Hotel Løven.

Getting from the airport to the conference hotels

Many participants will stay at Hotel Nora. Perhaps the most efficient way to reach the hotel is to take the Metro from the airport to Nørreport Station according to the above prescription. From there you can take bus 5A in the direction "Husum Torv", and get off at the stop "Ravnsborggade" (the first  stop after going over the lakes, and just the third  from Nørreport). The hotel is slightly further down the street, on the same side. Alternatively, you can walk about  15 minutes from Nørreport along Frederiksborggade, leading to Nørrebrogade just after you pass the lakes.  Note that you can also take the 5A bus all the way from the airport (ask the driver for a 3-zone ticket), though that is bound to take much longer (about 45 minutes).

Participants staying at Hotel Løven might prefer to take the train (rather than the Metro) from the airport to the Central Station (Hovedbanegården). Directions from there to the hotel can be found here.

For Hotel 9 Små Hjem, the closest train station is Østerport. From there it is a 10 minute walk to the hotel. The most straightforward way might be to walk along Dag Hammarskjölds Allé and turn right into Classensgade.

Getting to the Niels Bohr Institute

The Niels Bohr Institute, Blegdamsvej section can be found on this map. The Niels Bohr International Academy is housed in the building marked "Nordita".

Detailed directions on how to reach the institute (as well as other useful information) can be found here. Both Hotel Nora and Hotel 9 Små Hjem are about 10 minutes' walking distance from NBI. From Nora one can also take bus 3A from Elmegade or Skt. Hans Torv (direction Nordhavn Station) to Irmingersgade, which is the bus stop after Rigshospitalet. This leaves you precisely across the street from NBI.

To reach NBI from Hotel Løven there are several possibilities:
  • You can walk along the lakes, which will take about 30 minutes.
  • You can take bus 6A from Vesterbros Torv or from Trommesalen/Vesterbrogade towards Emdrup Torv and get off at Blegdamsvej/Tagensvej. From there it is a 5 minute walk along Blegdamsvej to NBI.
  • You can walk up Stenosgade and turn left into Gammel Kongevej. After 5-10 minutes you reach H.C.Ørsteds Vej from where you can take bus 3A (direction Nordhavn Station) to Irmingersgade, which is the bus stop after Rigshospitalet. This leaves you precisely across the street from NBI.
