Traveling to Nafplio

 

Leaving Nafplio (to Athens)

It takes 2h10min - 2h30min to get from Nafplio to Athens Kifisos station. The bus makes a stop to Elaionas metro station from where you can take the train to the Airport or Athens city centre. It takes 45min from Elaionas to the Airport and there is one train every half an hour. Otherwise at Kifisos station there is the X93 bus to the airport that should take about an hour to go to the airport, depending on the traffic. X93 leaves Nicosia every 30-40 minutes.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A STRIKE ON FRIDAY THE 14TH SO THE METRO WON'T RUN BETWEEN 11:00 AND 18:30. THE TRAIN TO THE AIRPORT WILL RUN NORMALLY.

Train from Corinth to the Airport

 

If the KTEL bus leaves too late to catch your flight you can catch the train from Corinth. It takes 1h33min from Corinth to the Airport and 50-60 minutes from Nafplio to get to Corinth by taxi. The taxi to Corinth from Nafplio costs ~85 euros. The earliest train departs at 05h14min and arrives at 06h47min at the airport. They run once every hour.

Getting to Greece: If you are planning to come by plane, the closest international airport to Nafplio is Athens airport. You can find flight and local transport information here

Getting from Athens to Nafplio: There are several ways for getting from Athens to Nafplio:

a) KTEL buses, which are direct (i.e., no need to change buses) from Athens Central Bus Station (Kifisos) to Nafplio. For this, you will need to go first from Athens airport to the city. There is an hourly bus (X93; you need to buy the ticket - approx. 5 Euros - at the airport just outside the arrival area, between exits 4 and 5 before entering the bus) from Monday-Saturday and every 1.5 hours on Sunday. It takes between half an hour to an hour to reach Kifisos station, depending on the traffic. The KTEL to Nafplio price is 14.40 Euros one way, and 23 Euro for a return. If you are staying in Athens before travelling to Naplio, you can arrange for a taxi from your hotel to Kifisos station; it should cost around 5-20 Euros depending where in Athens you are staying (and the traffic). Whatever your choice, please leave enough margin (at the very least 30 to 45 minutes) for traffic during the day.

b) You can take the train from Athens International Airport to Corinth (station is Korinthos N), with a change to Kato Acharnai. One way is 12 Euros. The timetable is give here. You will have to buy the ticket in the station. We will arrange for buses between Corinth station and Nafplio on the following dates:

Corinth--> Nafplio on Sunday, 9 June at (time TBC)

If you chose this route but you miss or cannot take the conference buses, don't despair. The option is to take a taxi from Korinthos N station to Isthmos (4 min ride, ~4.4 km, ~5-7 Euros) and then take a bus from Isthmos to Nafplio (~ 1 hour; ~10 euros one way).

For the return trip from Nafplio to Athens International Airport, you can hop on the KTEL buses leaving regularly from Nafplio and ask to be dropped off at the Eleonas stop. From there you can get the metro directly to the airport or any where else in Athens you may want to go
