NBI Tour & Welcome Reception (Monday, July 1st)

The conference will adjourn around 3:30 PM on Monday.

Those interested will go to the Niels Bohr Institute (Directions; 20 min walk).  There will be a tour of NBI including Niels Bohr's office.  The office is only big enough for 20 people at once, so we will have several tours available at staggered times beginning around 4:00 PM.  You will be able to sign up for a specific time at registration.

Around 6:00 PM, after the tours conclude, we will have an informal welcome reception in the NBI courtyard.  We will provide pizza and drinks (water, soda, beer).  We will adjourn around 9:00 PM.

Royal Danish Theater Tour, Boat Ride, and Food Hall (Wednesday, July 3rd)

The conference will adjourn around lunchtime (12:30 PM) on Wednesday.

You will have the opportunity to sign up for a tour of the Royal Danish Theatre.  This event is ticketed, but there will be no additional cost.

Around 2:45 PM, those interested should meet at the theatre (Address: Kongens Nytorv 9, 1017 København), as the tour begins at 3:00 PM.   We expect groups will informally walk together from the vicinity of the conference/hotels (Directions; 20 min walk).  When you arrive at the Royal Theatre, guests should wait in the foyer of the 'Gamle Scene' (Old Stage).  We will have guided tours (in two groups of 30).  The tour will take approximately 90 minutes.

At around 4:45 PM, immediately following the the theater tour, we will meet at Nyhavn (Address: 71 Nyhavn, 1051 København) for a boat tour departing at 5:00 PM.  This will be an approximate 1 hour long boat ride through the harbor and canals of Copenhagen.  The boat tour company is www.havnerundfart.dk

At 6:00 PM, the boat ride will end at a ferry terminal near the location of Copenhagen Street Food (Address: A, Refshalevej 167, 1432 København).  We will walk there (about 5 min) and then take advantage of the some of the many food/drink stalls.  Seating here is unreserved, so we will likely break into many small groups.  Food and drink costs are to be paid by participants.

This will conclude the formally organized outing, but you are encouraged to continue to enjoy the Copenhagen evening.  The return journey to the vicinity of the Geological Museum and conference hotels can be accomplished in about 30 min via the bus/metro.  A single-trip ticket (2 zones, 24 DKK) can be purchased on board the bus or via the app.  Around 9:00 PM, a group will make this return journey together.

Informal Outings (Friday, July 5)

Those of you who remain Friday night may wish to coordinate outings.  If you wish to have something listed here, talk to Josiah.

The Copenhagen Jazz Festival starts on Friday, July 5 and has many concerts around the city.

Ariadna Murguia Berthier will organize a salsa outing: The plan is arriving at Club Mambo (https://goo.gl/maps/mEezvUc7gvZpJbDk7) around 9:00PM on Friday because there is no cover and free salsa dance lessons. Everyone is welcome to come and dance or just hang out.
