Nordic Winter School on Particle Physics and Cosmology 2013

Europe/Copenhagen
Description
The purpose of the Nordic Winter School is to introduce PhD and advanced master students to selected hot topics in cosmology and particle physics. It will be held at the Thon Hotel Skeikampen, approximately 40 kilometers north of Lillehammer (200 km north from Oslo). You can find details about the area here. . Wednesday the 2nd and Monday the 7th will be travelling days, and bus transportation will be arranged from/to Oslo Airport Gardermoen on these dates. Lectures will be held on Thursday through Sunday, with free time in the middle of the day for outdoor activities like cross-country and downhill skiing. The school is sponsored by the Discovery Center (NBI), the Helsinki Institute of Physics (HIP), and the Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA). Lecturers:</fi> A: Subir Sarkar (Astroparticle physics) B: Pilar Hernandez (Neutrino physics) C: Simon Caron-Huot (Finite-T field theory and heavy ion collisions) D: Patrick Meade (Higgs physics and Beyond the Standard Model) E: David Rapetti (Cosmology and data) The school is limited to 35 students from the Nordic countries, and is subject to a selection. Registration is now closed. Organizing Committee: Emil Bjerrum-Bohr (NBIA and Discovery Center, Copenhagen) Poul H. Damgaard (NBIA and Discovery Center, Copenhagen) Kari Rummukainen (University of Helsinki and Helsinki Institute of Physics)
