Description
First Heavy-Ion collisions as seen by CMS, ALICE, and ATLAS

With the wealth of data streaming out of the LHC at a phenomenal√sNN=2.76 TeV, and the ongoing lower energy scan at RHIC it is interesting to pause for a moment and confront the experiments with the theory — and, vice versa.

In this work-shop, hosted by the Discovery Center, we will try to shed some light recent results from the experiments through a both theory and experiments.

Analytic means are applied to solve for all harmonics of the flow: which then are applied to calculation of the correlation functions and the power spectrum. Like in the Big Bang, acoustic peaks are predicted. Sounds and matter excitation from jet quenching will also be discussed.

We describe the coherent radiation off a quark-antiquark antenna traversing a QCD medium. Features of the spectrum are discussed and relevant scales of the problem are identified. In particular, the regimes where interference effects prevail are shown to be relevant in light of the data on inclusive jets in heavy-ion collisions at the LHC.

Ellipticity and triangularity are calculated using the new heavy ion initial state event generator DIPSY. The ellipticity is similar to CGC, but the triangularity is significantly larger than both Glauber and CGC. Data seems to favor the DIPSY eccentricities over both Glauber and CGC.
